When's the best time to see a boat?!

Well, first you need to check weather the camera is 'Live' or 'Delayed'. You can check this by looking at the description next to the webcam opposite. If its 'Live' you have a good chance of seeing a boat at its timetable time. If its 'Delayed' you need to check how often the camera refreshes, sometimes even 5 minuets is enough time for a boat to slip out undetected!

Next you need to check the timetable of when the boat is in the selected port. You can view the times by clicking the link to our quick guide or you can view the official times here on the CalMac website or here for NorthLink (opens a new window).

Lastly - keep your eyes peeled!

There are however no guarantees to see a selected vessel. It might be late due to adverse weather, another ship may be covering for it or it may have entered at a slightly different angle visible to the cameras.
