TERMINALS

Gallanach: A small slipway with a car park adjacent for the many day trippers.

Kerrera: A slipway and a breakwater where the vessel lies when not in use.

Since 1995 Duncan MacEachan had run the ferry to Kerrera. In 1999 he had the Gylen Lady constructed specially for the service which served the island reliably until 2016. Since 2013 the route has been subsidised by the Scottish Government who also carried out upgrade works at the slipways on both sides.

On the 1st July 2017 the route came into the CalMac network. From that date Gylen Lady operated under charter until the Carvoria entered service on 5th September 2017.

Islanders cars are carried only but the ferry is very popular with tourists. Kerrera is a small island that can be walked around in half a day. Only a stone's throw from Oban the 500 metre crossing takes a few minutes and as Carvoria is limited to carrying only 12 passengers she often makes extra runs to accommodate all passengers.

The Gylen Lady is still owned by Mr MacEachan and is used for relief and overhaul cover. She can now often be seen at a floating mooring mid-channel.
