In 1950 the old Chieftain was laid up at Marseilles. Nearly two years later she sailed for Spezia where she arrived on 8th January 1952 to commence demolition. Her career took her from Scotland's Western Isles to Orkney, Shetland, the Canadian coast, Tel Aviv, Marseilles, Beira and the West Indies.
