In 2006 Loch Alainn was suffering with technical problems with her 'stern' ramp. She was sailing single ended between Largs and Cumbrae but due to the long queues, cars w ere having to board, turn 180 degrees at the far end and line up to unload facing the other way. Two lanes were done this way, the others were loaded, then turned when the first two were unloaded.
