In 2018 Loch Seaforth broke down mid-Minch. She had a problem with her cooling syste. The coastguard and a tug boat stood by her as she limped to Stornoway. One of her three generators was fired up to drive a propeller through a propulsion unit and separate input into the gearboxes.
