In 1973 Lochdunvegan ran aground at Lochboisdale after her rudder jammed. She was eventually towed clear and taken to Lamont's yard at Port Glasgow for slipping and assessment. She never sailed again for David MacBrayne Ltd and was sold in November 1973.
